About the publication

Editorial process

A reference is useful when readers can follow its reasoning and identify its evidence.

Start with evidence

Define the question and its geographical and chronological limits. Identify the exact publication or record, establish its provenance and read the relevant text. Record the passages that support each material claim, along with qualifications and competing interpretations.

A journal homepage is a route to research, not evidence for an article’s historical conclusions. An institutional press release, a catalogue record and a peer-reviewed paper have different uses.

Review and publication

Aleksandras Osk is the responsible editor. The first six articles were approved for publication on 5 November 2026. References identify the publications and records used for each article.

Detailed origins, genetic interpretation, contested mythology, disputed ethnolinguistic mapping and sensitive modern history require a qualified specialist’s review. Material needing that review stays unpublished until the review is complete.

Dates, versions and maintenance

Publication and substantive revision dates identify actual events. A repaired link does not become a new factual review. Material corrections must state what changed, why and when on the affected article and in the version history.

Stable historical subjects are intended for periodic review, initially annually, and earlier when important scholarship or a credible correction warrants it. Statistics follow their relevant release and revision schedules. The site does not automatically regenerate articles.
